The Italian brand's high-tech underwear and socks play a major role in victories at Åre, in Sweden. UYN® celebrates with six new champions and contributes to 21 out of 33 medals.
Total success. The Alpine skiing world championships have come to an end, dominated by UYN® – Unleash Your Nature, which provided its very high-tech underwear and socks to support the triumph of the UYNners. In fact, the UYN® champions won six world titles and overall carried off 21 of the 33 medals on offer. This success became total domination in the men's competitions, where UYN® skiers won all the medals available: an amazing top three in five events.
The World Championships, held from 4 to 17 February, provided thrilling races and UYN® was the undisputed star of the show. The brand, produced by Italian firm Trerè Innovation, functional clothing sector leader, sponsors seven of the top national Alpine ski teams competing at Åre: Italy, Austria, France, Norway, Germany, Slovenia and Russia. This partnership with champions has led to the NATYON underwear and sock line, a concentrate of technology which gave decisive advantages at the Swedish World Championships, where even hundredths of a second proved to be all-important.
In the fastest disciplines as well as in the most technical ones, freedom of movement is fundamental. UYN® underwear made the difference thanks to the exclusive HYPERMOTION technology. In fact, the shoulder area consists of a single tube of fabric to remove all obstacles to movement and to support the body. This enabled the UYNners to free up more energy and greater reactivity than their adversaries. What's more, targeted compression supported their muscle structure, from the starting gate to the finishing line.
Underwear vests and pants feature the HEATMEMORY system, which traps heat and protects against cooling. This meant that the bitterly cold temperatures of Åre were no problem for the UYN® competitors, who were able to focus all their energies on success alone. UYN® also supplies champions with NATYON ski socks, specifically developed to meet their performance and stability needs, and provides them with comfortable, functional second layers for wear off the course.
At Åre, years of hard work and passion spent developing the most high-performance products were rewarded with a huge crop of medals, including six shining golds. The first UYNner to celebrate victory was Italian Dominik Paris, in a thrilling superG. Norwegian Kjetil Jansrud dominated the downhill, while French skier Alexis Pinturault was victorious in the combined. Henrik Kristoffersen (Norway) stunned everyone by beating his eternal rival, Marcel Hirscher, in the giant slalom. The Austrian master – the only skier in the world to have won seven consecutive World Cups - responded by winning the slalom crown. Amongst the women, UYN® triumphed with Slovenian Ilka Stuhec, who finished first in the downhill.
As well as this extraordinary tally of six world champions, the brand also achieved nine silver and six bronze medals. Here they are in detail:
