Another magical event. For the second year running, UYN played a leading role at the Huawei Venicemarathon. On 27 October, this prestigious race drew over 13,000 runners to one of the world’s most beautiful cities. In 2018, heavy rain turned the Venicemarathon into an epic day out. But this year, 26.2 miles of sunshine made for one huge party.
The marathoners snaked their way from Villa Pisani in Stra, passing the Riviera del Brenta and crossing the Ponte della Libertà before entering Venice. They crossed 14 bridges over the city’s famous canals and took in the spectacular San Marco square before crossing the finish line at the Riva Sette Martiri. A whirlwind of emotions, graft, smiles, colour. And two colours stood out from the rest: the pink and blue of the UYN technical shirt. Created in men’s and women’s versions for the 34th Venicemarathon, it was worn by thousands of runners who were keen to emphasise its high quality upon reaching the finish line.
As the event’s Technical Sponsor, UYN produced 6,000 high-performance shirts for all those running in the marathon. We also provided 2,000 organisational staff members with t-shirts, technical mid-layers and waterproof jackets. “Words and images aren’t enough to describe the feeling you get from a race like this, even when you’re not participating yourself,” said Giuseppe Bovo, UYN Brand Manager. It was Bovo who gave out the men’s and women’s podium awards at the finish. “Those emotions are what makes us proud to be Technical Sponsor at a huge event like the Venicemarathon.”
And the winners? For the men, it was Ethiopian runner Lencho Tesfaye Anbesa with a time of 2:10:49 and for the women, Kenyan Judith Korir in 2:29:20.
