Sofia Goggia

Italy’s Sofia Goggia (born in 1992 in Bergamo) starts successfully in various alpine disciplines. In 2013, she joined the Italian women’s team for the world championships, although she only had four world cup starts in giant slalom.

She achieved world cup victories in downhill skiing and in super-G, podium places in giant slalom and in combination. Her greatest success is the gold medal for downhill skiing in 2018 in Pyeongchang. Here, she beat world class ski racer Lindsey Vonn.

Tessa Worley

Tessa Worley (born on 1989 in Annemasse) is a French ski racer. Her specialty discipline is giant slalom. Here, she won world championship titles in 2013 and 2017 as well as the world championship bronze medal in 2011. In the team competition, she won the world champion title in 2011 and 2017, as well as twelve races so far in the world cup.

In 2014 she suffered an injury and was forced to end the season early, which meant she could not take part in the Olympic Games. Her small stature has earned her the nickname ‘puce’, which means ‘flea’. She holds the rank of a non-commissioned officer in the French mountain rangers.

Ragnhild Mowinckel

The Norwegian Ragnhild Mowinckel (born in 1992 in Molde) starts in all disciplines apart from the slalom. In the Winter Olympics in 2018 in Pyeongchang, she won silver medals in giant slalom and downhill skiing, only very narrowly missing the gold in the downhill skiing.

In the Alpine Junior World Championships in 2012 and 2013, she won gold three times as well as one silver and one bronze. In the world cup, she has won a total of three podium positions, one of these was a first place.

Marcel Hirscher

Marcel Hirscher from Austria (born in 1989 in Hallein, Salzburg) is one of the most successful ski racers of all time, after Ingemar Stenmark. His greatest successes were achieved in slalom and giant slalom. Hirscher was the first to win the overall world cup seven times in a row. He has ten wins in a world cup discipline score and six world champion titles under his belt.

In 2018 in Pyeongchang, he won gold medals in giant slalom and in combination. At the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014, he won the silver medal for slalom. In 2015, he was almost hit by a falling camera drone during a race. Marcel and his wife are expecting their first child in September.

Felix Neureuther

Felix Neureuther, living in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (born in 1984 in Munich-Pasing) specialises in the disciplines slalom and giant slalom. To date, he has won five medals at world championships: three in slalom and two in the team competition. He has managed a total of 13 world cup victories.

He was eighth in the giant slalom at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver (2010) and Sochi (2014). Neureuther is nine-times German champion in downhill skiing, slalom and giant slalom. On 25 November 2017, he suffered a ruptured ligament while training, had to undergo an operation and as a consequence, could not take part in the 2018 Winter Olympics.
