Champions in biathlon and snowboarding, too!

Biathlon’s Dorothea Wierer; snowboarding’s Michela Moioli and Roland Fischnaller: our #UYNners never cease to bring the emotion.

After our wins in Alpine skiing - with Federica Brignone and Aleksander Kilde taking the men’s and women’s World Cups - UYN is celebrating this memorable season with another three crystal globes.

Wierer, queen of biathlon

Italian biathlon star Dorothea Wierer resisted the assault from Norwegian Tiril Eckhoff to become champion once again. In Kontiolahti, Finland, “Doro” became the first Italian to top the overall standings in two consecutive World Cups. To those victories she adds four medals (two of which gold), won in February at the Antholz World Championships.

Three’s the charm for Moioli in the snowboard cross

A Veysonnaz, Switzerland, Michela Moioli bagged her third win of the season in the snowboard cross, laying down her mark on the overall classifications. This is the Italian athlete’s third specialist Cup, after her wins in 2016 and 2018; her victory places her firmly at the top of her discipline.

Fischnaller takes the parallel throne

UYN and Italy’s celebrations conclude with Roland Fischnaller’s win. At 39 years of age, he has successfully topped the parallel standings at the World Cup. Having stepped onto the podium five times, three of which in first place, the snowboarder from Brixen has had an exceptional year. Winning the Parallel Giant Slalom Cup was the icing on the cake.
