We don’t just provide kit for the champions: we’re always on hand, to listen to their needs. On Thursday 9 May, we had the great pleasure of welcoming the German national alpine ski team athletes to Asola (Mantua, Italy) for a visit.
Viktoria Rebensburg (silver medallist at the last World Ski Championships in Åre), Marina Wallner, Marlene Schmotz, Veronique Hronek, Jessica Hilzinger, Patrizia Dorsch, and the German team coaches and staff had the chance to see the headquarters of Trerè Innovation, the company behind UYN, the official sponsor of the German Ski Association (DSV, Deutschen Skiverbands).
Seeing the hyper-technical machinery that produces the high-performance UYN products first-hand
After arriving in Asola in the morning, the champions were taken on a tour of the company by UYN Brand Manager Giuseppe Bovo. In the showroom, they had the chance to discover the UYN cycling and running collections, as well as the Natyon base layers that saw them through the winter season. They were also able to see each manufacturing stage of the UYN garments, from 3D modelling to final packaging. They were fascinated by the hyper-technical equipment used to create and perfect our kit for athletes.
“UYN base layers are vital to our performance.”
“It was a really interesting visit, I’m so happy to have had this opportunity,” said Viktoria Rebensburg - star of the German team. “I’m really impressed by Trerè Innovation. Every aspect of production is tightly controlled: from product research right down to the detailed manufacturing process. I’ve never seen such sophisticated machinery.”
Jürgen Graller, head coach of the women's team, also loves the kit: “The base layers are perfect for professional skiers, who need to stay warm in a way that doesn’t restrict their movement or cause irritation. The materials UYN use got positive feedback from our athletes. They’re comfortable, and have an exceptional feel against the skin. The sheer quality of these products is immediately obvious: the support and assistance they bring to performance is important.” Rebensburg added: “It’s so nice to work with a company that shares the same ambitions and philosophy as us professional athletes.”
UYN quality on the bike, too
In the afternoon, the athletes chose to head to the southern area of Lake Garda for their first outing of the season. They continued their training programme with a long bike ride in the beautiful moraine hills by Lake Garda. The perfect opportunity to sample the high quality of the UYN Alpha Biking collection, designed for high-performance cyclists.
So, after supporting these champions’ performance at the largest winter sports events - with the high-performance Natyon shirt, base layer tights and socks - UYN and our high-tech products are seeing them through their summer training, too.
