The Russian ski team: full slalom power in white, blue and red
The up-and-coming young team of Russian alpine athletes led by slalom specialist Alexandr Khoroshilov also wear the functional underwear from UYN, made in Italy. We are curious to see if the team will assert itself against the strong competition in the 2018/2010 season.
Alexander Khoroshilov is the slalom star in the Russian ski team. Early in his career, he focused on speed and combination disciplines until he specialised in slalom. During the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, the Russian was able to establish himself among the top 30 in the world ranking. Khoroshilov was born in Jelisowo in the snowy region of Kamchatka. Currently, the 34-year-old is a protégé of Wolfgang Mitter, the Russian Federation’s alpine coordinator, and trains on the Reiteralm in the region of Schladming am Dachstein. His wife lives with their daughter near Moscow.
Khoroshilov has won ten Russian championship titles, eight of them in slalom, since 2006. His World Cup début was in 2004. Just ten years later, he secured his first podium finish in the slalom in Are. This was the first World Cup podium finish by a Russian since Alexander Schirow in March 1981. Khoroshilov won his first World Cup victory in the Schladming Nightrace in the same season in January 2015. The Russian has stood on the podium nine times in total in slalom. Khoroshilov finished the slalom World Cup in the 2014/2015 season with a third place. The Russian has participated in six world championships so far. He achieved his best result in 2017 in St. Moritz, when he skied into fifth place in the slalom. Khoroshilov has participated in four Winter Olympics so far: Turin, Vancouver, Sochi and Pyeongchang.
